How to register your MTC SIM Card

Visit the MTC SIM Registration Page: Access the MTC website’s SIM registration portal here and click on “Start SIM Registration”. The website will allow you to register your SIM card via taking you through three phased process. The phases touch on capturing your personal details, confirmation of you being alive via liveness detection and finally confirming your proof of identification.
Phase One: In the first phase you will simply be asked to fill in their form that captures your personal details. Accurately fill in the required personal information fields, including your current active number, type national identification document you will use (Namibians are advised to use the National ID document), ID/passport number (date asked for if you selected “Passport as type of document is the expiry date), and any other requested details.
Be sure to have the original identity document you choose to you use when filling in your identity number; that is whether you choose the National ID document or Passport number, because you will be asked to take an image of the document.
Phase Two: In this phase, the process will confirm your SIM card number by sending you a One-Time Pin (OTP) that you need to enter and then proceed to the Liveness detection which requires you to take a selfie with your PC or phone depending on what device you are using to register.
To prepare for the Liveness detection (A snapshot to secure your identity) ensure you are in a well lit area for picture clarity, with a simple solid color background.
Phase Three: In this phase, carefully review all the information you have entered and ensure everything is accurate. Once confirmed, submit the registration application. The website should provide a confirmation message or reference number for your application. You might also receive updates on the registration status via email or SMS (text message) depending on the system. You may send a message to the number 081 150 0100 to confirm if your number is duly registered.
Additional Points:
- MTC’s website might have a help section or FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) to address common queries regarding online SIM registration. Refer to these resources if you encounter any difficulties.
- Processing times for online registration can vary. Be patient and wait for confirmation from MTC before assuming the registration is unsuccessful.
- If you encounter any technical issues or have questions not addressed online, consider contacting MTC customer service for assistance. Their contact details can likely be found on the MTC website or through a web search.
By following these steps and having the necessary requirements, you should be able to register your MTC SIM card online in Namibia conveniently.
So there you have it, two ways in which you may register your mobile SIM card. The online registration option offered by MTC will save you a lot of time and effort (i.e. standing in queues etc). It takes a few minutes and it is done. TN Mobile does not have an online sim registration option so you would have to do this in person at any TN Mobile home. It is also an admittedly rather short process and it will take you less than 20 minutes to finish everything.
